Reflections
The word "reflecting" can mean many different things and as I write this it does to me. I am currently reflecting on the direction of my art, how blessed I have been to be able to pursue my passion in the creation of art, and even my recent fascination with reflections. I am captivated by them and am seeking them out - looking for the next one that I may be able to capture creatively in pastel or acrylic.
I am "reflecting" on the fact that this is quite a departure from the type of art I normally choose to create - that being animal related, western or figurative, most often. Still I am drawn to the challenge of rendering the abstracted shapes of buildings, landscapes and those people who populate those onto the shiny surfaces of items that I would not have considered painting a few years ago.
I believe that as an artist I do need to stretch my wings and challenge myself, while still being true to what I am passionate about. I think the passion comes through in the work when you really feel a connection to what you are painting. At this time I am inspired by this unusual turn for me and I hope that my emotion and fascination comes through to those who view this series of pieces.
