New European Fasion - Fall 2010
When you think of fashion, you might think of New York. But what about the European fashion capitals of Milan, Paris and London. These cities have given the world some of the most famous fashion designers in the world, and fashion in Europe is just as hot as those in New York.
These cities have given us some of the greatest fashion in Europe. Catwalk shows and yearly 'fashion week' events bring in people from all over the world. The year 2010 has seen some great new looks. The fashion calender is split into two, spring/summer and autumn/winter.
This year's spring/summer season saw the rise of military wear, transformed into casual and exciting pieces. Utility jackets and military style footwear were everywhere, with platform heels being added to create a great new look. Greys and khaki greens were the colours of the season.
as well as the military styles hitting the Paris catwalks, Milan was setting the scene for lace to make a big comeback. Added to suits, lace transformed the office into a chic designer haven. Also in suits, different fabrics were being experimented such as textured linen. Outside of the work place, beach wear and swimwear was being touched by a burst of colour, with bold blocks and prints causing a storm.
As the year moves from summer to autumn, the new looks are beginning to be seen for the winter collections. In Spain, one designer has made his mark by reintroducing fur into the wardrobe, but dyed in bright colours and with colourful prints. This is also the case for lighter woolen designs. Metallics are going to be big this year, with brass and copper colours coming into the limelight.
Italian designers have also used fur as a staple of the cold months fashion wear. Unlike their Spanish counterparts, the designers in Milan have stuck with the old favourite of animal print to give their furs new life. And with Christmas just around the corner, it is yet to be seen how the designers of the European fashion world will make their party pieces stand out like never before.
